Delete your Quiet account
In the app (immediate)
- Open Quiet and tap Settings.
- Tap Account & backup, then Your data.
- Tap Delete my account, then tap it again to confirm.
Your account is deleted from our server straight away and the app wipes your chats from the phone. Your contacts are told the account no longer exists.
Without the app
If you no longer have the phone, email quietmessenger07@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my Quiet account". Quiet has no phone numbers or emails, so tell us your display name and roughly when you last used Quiet; we will reply within 15 days. Accounts that aren't opened for 180 days are deleted automatically.
What is deleted
- Your account ID and its secret, waiting encrypted messages, invite codes, push addresses, reminder times, blocks, channels you own and feedback you sent: deleted immediately.
- Your chats, photos, notes and contacts live only on your phone: they are wiped when you delete the account or uninstall Quiet. We never had copies.
What we keep, and for how long
- A record that the account existed: account ID, sign-up and deletion dates only, for 1 year (required by India's IT Rules, 2021).
- Reports other people made about the account, with only the messages they chose to share, for up to 180 days.
- Anti-spam records with no content (that the account created invites, was blocked or was reported) for up to 30 days, and per-minute sending counts for 2 hours.
